Accident at Toulouse-Blagnac aerodrome on 15 November 2007

In the context of the investigation into the accident that occurred on 15 November at Toulouse-Blagnac Aerodrome to the Airbus 340-600, and in coordination with the judicial authorities, the two flight recorders (CVR and FDR) from the airplane were transported to the BEA headquarters for readout yesterday afternoon. The data was downloaded and is of good quality.

The airplane was at a standstill. The wheels were not chocked. A final test of the engines, with the brakes on, was under way. The initial validated information from the flight recorders shows that all four engines were operating at high power for about three minutes. The airplane started to move forward and struck a blast-wall thirteen seconds later. At present, no technical malfunctions in the engine or braking systems have been discovered.

The investigation is continuing to determine the exact circumstances in which the event occurred.

As after every accident, the BEA recommends avoiding all hasty interpretation and conclusions. Additional information will be communicated as the technical investigation progresses.
