Press release 3 September 2007
Accident off the coast of Moorea (French Polynesia) on 9 August 2007
|
The cockpit voice recorder (CVR) from the Air Moorea DHC-6 registered F-OIQI arrived at the BEA on Saturday morning. It was opened and the memory cards prepared for the readout, which has now been completed. The recording is of good quality. It includes the event of 9 August 2007, a little over one minute’s flying time between airplane power up and the end of the recording. The pilot, who was alone in the cockpit, said very little. Various other sounds from the fight controls and alarms are heard. At this stage, the readout does not yet make it possible to explain the accident. The BEA is currently continuing detailed analysis of the recorded sounds and of the previous flights, which should be complemented by examination of the parts of the wreckage that have been raised. |
