Accident at Toronto on 2 August 2005

The Transportation Safety Board (TSB), which is responsible for carrying out the investigation into the accident to the Air France A340 at Toronto, has decided to entrust the readout of the airplane’s flight recorders to the BEA. In fact, these recorders require specialized readout facilities that are not available in Canada, due to the limited number of recorders of this type in operation.

The recorders were brought to the BEA this morning by two Canadian investigators and work began immediately. The work should be completed during the weekend. The data recovered will be read out and analyzed in Ottawa in the context of the ongoing investigation.

No information on this data will be released by the BEA.
