The extracts presented are from films made by two cameras on the "Scorpio 2000", remotely operated vehicle (ROV) belonging to France Telecom Marine. The ROV, equipped with an articulated arm and cameras (guidance and control) was linked via a feeder cable to a control station on board the "Ile de Batz" cable-laying ship. This made it possible to follow and record the movements and the work performed via the on-board screens. The diving operations took place 24 hours a day, including ROV maintenance and repair. Each descent and surface took about forty minutes. At over a thousand meters underwater, despite the clearness of the water, it is totally dark. Visibility of around five or six meters was made possible by the searchlights on the ROV. The recorders were recovered on 17 and 18 January.
